The best way to start is to organize the refrigerator and rework the system. When healthy items are visible, easy to access, and easy to prepare, you’re much less likely to spoil yourself, which means ordering delivery and calling it a day.

Covid 19: Eight Tips For Staying In Good Mental And Physical Health During This Challenging Time

If you want to start eating healthier, you obviously need to stock your fridge with healthy foods. It helps to make a list of basic staples that should always be at hand. It takes the guesswork out of grocery shopping, and you’ll feel more prepared during meals and snacks.

My staples include a variety of pre-cut fruits and vegetables, slices of cheese, single-serve yogurts, eggs, and lots of turkey. It is one of the smallest types of meat and is rich in vitamins and minerals. It’s also easy to prepare and super versatile – literally, tons of recipes!

My favorite turkey brand is Honeysuckle White (or its sister brand, Shadibrook Farms). It is growth hormone and antibiotic free and grown by independent family farmers… such a high quality product!

When it comes to actually organizing your fridge, don’t skip the change process. Do you want to create a functional system that works for your space and promotes a healthy lifestyle? So trust me! Even if you don’t like it, start removing everything from the fridge until it is completely empty. I recommend keeping a trash bag nearby and discarding anything as you go. And since your fridge shelves probably need a deep cleaning, here’s your chance to actually get in there and remove that pesky sticky layer!

The Best Way To Organize The Refrigerator

When grouping your items, consider broad categories, such as “vegetables” and “spices” versus “chickens” and “ketchup.” This will ensure that all incoming items have a home, which is key to maintaining an organized system. Sub-categorization only makes sense if you regularly buy large quantities of a particular item.

Each category should live in a specific zone (location) and preferably in a closed and visible house (clean production). This allows everything to be accessible, quantifiable and aesthetically pleasing… while maximizing shelf space.

Labeling is not just a finishing touch, it is actually the secret of the system. Labels are really just direct instructions for where things go. They specifically identify the contents of each container. Not only does it help maintain your system, but it also keeps your kids, your spouse, and anyone else using the space.

*Reminder: Think broad, not specific when labeling your categories. It should be a simple roadmap that is flexible enough for occasional exceptions.

How To Organize Your Kitchen—once And For All

Let’s guess: your kids come home from school and immediately dump all their stuff in a pile by the front door? Meet them in the middle with the drop-spot system! This can include shoes, backpacks, lunch boxes, jackets and extracurricular items like ballet shoes or soccer shoes – but every family is different. These items can be hidden or stored in an open bin, it is important that your children can access them when needed. Not only will this system eliminate clutter at the door and keep everyone accountable in their place, but you can quickly get what you need on the way out the door.

Every home needs a system to manage all incoming and outgoing paperwork…otherwise it will quickly pile up on your desktop and stress you out. When designing your system, think about three general categories: to do, file, and recycle. As a reminder for current tasks, working papers must remain organized, but viewable in open tray or letter layouts. Files can be stored in a hanging file or document box, labeled by category, color, or otherwise.

Bonus tip: Make a paper tray in plain sight where your kids can put any papers they need to sign or look at.

It never fails – the moment you walk out the door is also when your child decides to admit he forgot to brush his teeth… or maybe he really did. It was a chaotic morning and you realized you forgot to brush your teeth. Oh! So you better keep a crisis management kit right by the door for all your *oh no!* and *mom, I forgot*.

Small Space Organizing Ideas To Maximize Every Room

Spring cleaning is traditionally thought of as a time of reflection and decluttering, but there is also an opportunity to give special meaning to the things you * * * do.

Every space in your home has the ability to function efficiently and look great. Let us help you conquer your clutter and keep it! For me, simplicity has always been a pursuit of growth over perfection. My personal goal is not to create zero waste, but to reduce it as best as possible while staying within my means. I’m working hard to adopt small habits that I can actually integrate and maintain instead of focusing on doing everything perfectly and “failing”. Clean, conscious, simple, less toxic… these are always my core values. So why is the kitchen and especially the fridge such a big thing to deal with if you want to reduce your waste and make more sustainable alternatives? Because of the simplicity of the food; From how you organize and plan your meals to what + how much you decide to buy can positively impact your health and well-being, as well as the planet.

Here’s my two cents on ways to be more organized, reduce waste, and save money in the process.

Do you feel like you’re constantly throwing away old food that you forgot to eat? One of the easiest ways to reduce food waste (and save money) is to buy less and plan ahead. Because it’s just Andrew and I, our fridge is barely stocked with food. We shop for a week’s worth of supplies (keeping in mind the 3-meal combos). Most of our ingredients can be easily mixed and mixed to create simple stir-fry bowls, salads, snack plates and more.

Overall, we follow the “eat once, eat twice” rule. Andrew takes the leftovers to work the next day and I usually take some leftovers and make a big salad for lunch. Then, we repeat! By the time Thursday rolls around, we’re both usually on a date. When we don’t have guests in town, we aim to eat out only 2-3 times a week. Sit down with yourself or someone you share finances with and get real about your preferences and desired lifestyle to find a weekly grocery shopping flow that works for you.

While #fridgeselfies are a good photo for the gram, let’s not forget that an organized fridge and pantry holds the key to less stress, less stress and more eating! When you can clearly see and easily access everything in your pantry, you can take a better inventory of the things you already have instead of buying more crackers.
